** Shares of laser and optical devices maker Coherent COHR.N up 2.48% at $101.49 in premarket trading

** Company appoints Sherri Luther as new chief financial officer, effective immediately

** Luther, who will take over the role from interim finance chief Richard Martucci, joins Coherent from Lattice Semiconductor LSCC.O, where she was CFO since 2019

** As of last close, Coherent shares have more than doubled YTD
